I felt awesome and I lost about 1-2 pounds a week.. It was going great until I moved into the cabin.. Gosh! I swear Camping, Cabins.. anything of the sort calls for bad eating and games.
So, here I am, on my 4th day of back to my old eating plan. After 2 months of eating whatever I wanted, not only did I gain back all the weight, I always feel like crap. Tired, irritable, gassy and sick, not to mention my skin and hair don't seem as full and glossy..
I decided to wait until today to write this blog for a few reason.
A) I didn't want to 'Jinx' the plan. Usually if you tell someone of your goals on the first or even second day it fails. I am a huge failer usually in the first couple of days.
B) I hadn't actually planned to go back to my old eating habits, it just happened.. and I'm really happy I decided to.
As most of you know I had to stop breastfeeding 2 months ago. I was so upset about it. I had planned to breastfeed until a year old. It was a goal of mine, and I was so set to do it. I thought I was smart by pumping every 2-3 hours.. ( and it worked for 3 months) and then Hudson hit 3 months old and he went into a HUGE 1 month growth spurt. Not only was he eating almost triple what he normally ate, I couldn't keep up.
I tried to pump every hour for 20 minutes.. I tried taking Fenugreek and Blessed thistle.. I tried drinking cups of water a day, getting tons of sleep.. having Hudson right beside me when pumping.. then finally I just straight out breastfeed him.. but by this point I had barely anything left.
So, I resorted to Formula.. I am over it now, but by was it a blow in the face.
A quick side note: Moms who do use formula, DO NOT be offended. I have no judgment on you in the slightest, I am just voicing what I wanted for my son.
Did you know that back 30 or even 40 years ago, rarely anyone breastfed? It was actually looked down upon. Weird hey, how it's totally switched?!
Anyways, my next child I definitely learnt to bite the bullet and just breastfeed in public.
So, where am I going with this? hmmm.. Okay, so healthy eating. Well, I can't say Glen is partaking in our healthy eating. But, 2 is better than 1, right?
Once we're moved out I plan to make homemade baby food for Hudson.
Right now he eats about 4-5 OZ of formula every 2-2.5 hours. I usually top each bottle off with 1.5-2 TBLS of Rice Cereal, and then usually once every 2 days he gets half a container of a veggie or fruit.. He's getting really good at eating off a spoon now. I think his favorite vegetable is yams.
Anyways if anyone has some tips for how to help babe eat healthier while on Formula I would love it. I know you can get droppers with different vitamins in them.
What do you give your babe???
So, what turned into a blog about myself is now about Hudson. Too funny.. Oh well, life is all about them, isn't it?!
Also, check out these fun pictures we took over the weekend with our sisters Nikon3000!! Amazing Camera, I can only dream someday we get one!
Thanks kels for letting us use it!

AS my Son is breast feed, and i take vitamins to fill the milk full of what he needs, i wasnt sure on what vitamins i needed to give him, if any at all, But as i was informed it is always great to give your child the best of both worlds, so Vitmain D (D-Vi-Sol) is a must in babies.... and we are always givign Brodie a multi-vitmain (Poly-Vi-Sol) Both are under the name brand of Enfamil and found in Walmart, and not very expensive either (which is always a bonus.. more money to spend on baby clothing) Hope this helps!
Thanks for the comment!! :) Always love em'!
We do give Hud a Vitamin D supplement from Edible Island, but I will go look at the MultiVitamins. I hear Formula has more nutrients than breast milk, but who are they kidding.. you can't beat breast milk!
What great pictures! Hudson is super cute.
I am afraid I don't have any tips for nutrients for a formula fed baby. I'm just starting to think about maybe giving my son some solids (he's almost 5 mths), but haven't gone there yet. I don't know what your set-up is for cooking but my mum just gave me a baby food mill - a grinder that requires no electricity. Would that help you to be able to make food for Hudson before you move?
Hey!
We do have electricity, but our Cabin is about 300 Sq feet. No bathroom or running water. ( we go over to the main house to do all our washing and cooking! ), it isn't so bad as it sounds.. it's kind of fun! Makes you appreciate the little things.. but definitely not used to this way of living.. just counting my blessings and it's kind of like camping.. except off the ground, with couches and a bed, and a LCD TV. haha..
I will look into getting a baby good grinder though, I could use it in the other house. I was thinking of cooking some yams and just mashing them with some extra water.
What baby foods were you thinking of starting on?
I'm going to follow a naturopathic schedule for introducing foods, which I believe means starting with vegetables (yams, broccoli, avocado) and then adding cereal and fruits after a few months of veg. I feel really lucky that my benefits from work cover a naturopath, and the one I see is someone I really trust, she and I will be meeting to talk about Ollie's eating on Tuesday. You can also look up info about a naturopathic schedule, if you are interested. I believe the thinking is that grains can be constipating, so starting with veg gets babies used to food flavors and textures without blocking them up. I'm excited to watch my son's first tastes of "real" food!!
