A year ago today, I started having contractions at 932 AM,Thursday, Feb 11th. They were six minutes apart, and painful. What did I do? Clean, clean clean!
I knew I wanted to stay home until the absolutely longest I could, but I also knew I didn't want to have the baby in the car.. as we were driving from Cumberland to Campbell River.
I finally held out until 43O, and called Glen from work to come home, it was "BABY TIME!"
My contractions were 2 minutes apart, and quite painful. I had heard tons of stories about mom thinking they were in SO much pain, and they got to the hospital and were only 1 or 2 cm dilated, but once we got to the Hospital, it was 53O, and I was 5-6 cm dilated!!
The nurses and I thought for sure I was having a baby that night! They kept telling me that I would have a baby before midnight.. and that kept me going.
Oh, sorry.. tearing up a bit...
I can just remember the nurse saying, "You're going to hold your baby boy tonight, keep going, you're doing great!"
It was a hard and long night. Contractions were still 2 minutes apart, but the intensity came down a bit, or maybe it stayed the same.. who knows. All I know was I wasn't in BRUTAL pain and I wasn't dilating more.
Since my Grandma lives two minutes from the hospital, against the nurses wishes.. I decided to go stay at their house for a few hours, thinking that a familiar atmosphere would get something moving..
It was definetly hard trying to stay calm and being in so much pain, but at 3 am, I told Glen it was time to go back to the hospital.. I was in too much pain to bear it anymore.
We got there, and I was only 6 cm dilated... I went and sat in the bathtub.. it was then the contractions got really really really bad. I don't think I've ever been in that much pain before.
Finally at 1O3O AM, I got out of the tub and I got a epidural and my water broken.. took a little nap, and at 2O7 Hudson was born..
WOW, what a amazing day that was, and again, we get to celebrate his first year of life, tomorrow.
I will post many photos in the next few days!
Happy Birthday Eve to my most special little man. You've taught me what love is, you will never understand how much love I've for you..
Mommy loves you!
